Veolia Water is planning to do improvement works to the water mains in and around Waterside starting in January 2012. As Sue Pavey, Communications Executive for Veolia, informed Councillor Peter Hudson:
This work is expected to start on Monday, 9 January and is being carried out by our contractor Enterprise Managed Services. To allow us to carry this out, the following roads will be closed:
9/01/12 to 13/02/12: East Street from the junction of Red Lion Street to the junction of Townfield. Traffic will be diverted via Red Lion Street, St Mary’s Way, White Hill, The Backs and Station Road.
13/02/12 to 9/04/12: Waterside from Red Lion Street to the junction with Hospital Hill. Traffic will be diverted via Amersham Road, Moor Road and Waterside.
There will be further road closures and diversions in place on Market Square, High Street and King Street in April 2012. There will be an opportunity for local residents and businesses to drop in and talk to us in the New Year about the work, I will keep you informed of the date and location.
