The Waterside Community Association (WCA) is very disappointed that the private owners of the old quarry lakes have put the site on the market without first fully exploring a use for the community. The site has been used for decades by local dog walkers, fisherman and those that enjoy the natural environment. Local community groups have also played an important role in helping to maintain the site.

The WCA worked hard last year to pull together feedback from the community as to what they would like to see happen to the site. The vast majority wish to see the area remain a place of natural beauty for the community to enjoy.

The WCA are working with a variety of local organisations to try and find a way forward to keep the area accessible to the community. We would welcome any suggestions or offers of support. If you feel that you are able to help keep this site in community use or have any suggestions, the WCA would be pleased to hear from you via the feedback link below.Bois Quarry img

Thank you to those residents living in Bois Moor Road and Hodds Wood Road who responded to our recent play area survey.

Following the success of the WCA-led refurbishment of the Gordon Road play area last year, the Association have looked at other play areas in Waterside, those in Bois Moor Road (on the way to Chesham Bois) and also Hodds Wood Road. Both of these play areas are managed by Chesham Town Council and were earmarked for closure.

The survey results clearly showed that residents want to keep and improve the play area in Bois Moor Road. There was less support for the smaller play area in Hodds Wood Road.

Waterside Community Association has reached agreement with Chesham Town Council to keep the Bois Moor Road play area open, whilst they fundraise to replace the current equipment and even increase the size of the play area.  The Hodds Wood play area will be closed.

If you would like to be involved in the fundraising to improve the play area at Bois Moor Road, or have any ideas, please contact the WCA Chairman, Shane Willmoth –
