The owners of the Rose and Crown have submitted a new application to convert the Rose and Crown pub into five one bed flats and a studio apartment. Local Councilor Peter Hudson had this to say about the application.

The new application raises many of the same concerns with me that the previous one did, namely the over development of the site and the small unit sizes of the accommodation, the likely knock-on effect of traffic issues around Springfield Road and of course the potential loss of a community facility without any reference from the current owners to local community organisations.

Community members are encouraged to view the details of the planning application and respond with comments or concerns. The deadline for comments is Thursday the 21st August 2014. The application number is CH/2014/1223/FA and you can view it by searching at . All comments can be sent to  Feel free to copy Peter Hudson on into any comments so that he can build an overall response.

Waterside residents are cautioned to be vigilant of their home security.

We have been made aware of a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Waterside area over the last couple of weeks.  Please be on the look out for anything suspicious and don’t hesitate to phone 101 or 999 in an emergency.  Remember to check your home is secure and locked up when you are out or upstairs as it appears there is an opportunist element in the area, grabbing anything that is in sight and reach.
