One Response to “Changes to Council Tax”

  1. As I understand it Chesham has the highest ratio of persons on some form of income support in the county – the proposals for change available for download from the council website take some wading through and basically focus on the changes for people who are currently receiving some form of income support that in turn qualifies them for a reduction in the amount of council tax they will pay.
It seems likey that to fund this scheme Council tax in Chesham is likely to increase for those in paid employment and those retired council tax payers who do not qualify for any income support or council tax reduction. (i.e. the Governments protection for pensioners does not apply to pensioners who do not qualify for a reduction in council tax).
You will need to set aside around 45 minutes to an hour to read all the documentation and complete the online survey, though I would suggest it may be in your interests to do so.
